Patient Survey - Jan/Feb 2018

The patient survey was held throughout January and February 2018, results have been shared  with the GPs and staff and a meeting was held with the patient group on Friday 16th March 2018. No actions were identified.

The results were completed by 3% of our patients with an age range from under 18 to over 85 years.

100% of patients said :

  • that they would recommend the surgery to someone who has moved into the area.
  • found the receptionists helpful and professional
  • had trust and confidence in the doctors and nurses
  • were seen on average within 10 minutes of their booked appointment

Patient Survey - December 2016

The results from the patient survey held in December have been shared and discussed with the GPs and staff and a meeting was held with the patient group on Friday 20th January to review and action.

The results showed that the surgery was meeting patient expectation and that our patients are very happy with the service provided.

We have included a few of the positive comments received below:

Excellent service all round

Brilliant surgery with very sympathetic doctors who always listen and helpful

Always friendly, efficient and helpful

Drs very professional, helpful and approachable

I have always been treated very well and promptly

Having moved here 4 yrs ago this is by far the best practice I have used, thank you

Dr very supportive and ability to talk on the phone very good

Improvements to the building and SMS reminders welcome changes over the years

We found that it was difficult to find points that we could improve on or action, however, we would like to show that we have listened and considered the suggestions received and have responded to these as follows:

Evening surgery

To hold an evening surgery would mean replacing the early morning surgery which a lot of patients like so that they can obtain treatment/medications before work, so this was not considered a better option.

Appointments usually run late

The survey showed 73% of patients are seen within 10 minutes of their booked appointment.

Unfortunately it is not possible to ensure exact timing, some patients require additional time if they are very unwell, or there is an emergency. We have also had posters up asking that patients only discuss one problem at each appointment but this is not always possible.

Having a female doctor on more days

Dr Mian works on Mondays and Wednesdays and we have found that there is not enough demand or funding for further sessions at present.

Card machine in pharmacy

We have looked at this on 2-3 occasions but unfortunately the cost of running a card machine is not cost effective for the small turnover the dispensary has.

Telephone queuing system

We have made enquiries regarding this but our current telephone system does not support a queuing system.

Counselling service

Funding for a counselling service provided by the NHS was dropped a few years ago but CBT therapy is available through the self-refer psychological well being service (www.cpft.nhs.uk)

Different toys for children

It is very difficult to accommodate toys for all ages, boys and girls due to the limited space we have available.

Become a training practice

Time would need to be allocated to the students for teaching so we would have to reduce the amount of patient appointments; therefore this is not considered a suitable option for the surgery at present.
